In Mackerelmedia Fish, you explore abandoned sites as a digital archaeologist. The goal is to search for clues about the missing fish. As you read the remaining text and select links and branches, you will learn about the history of the site and its residents.

When you select the Support link, a description will appear stating that it leads to a dark and cold place. This is the point where you can choose to leave it alone or investigate further before moving to the page.

In the color-coded table of contents and news section, there is a mix of readable text and missing parts. Exploration involves selecting links on the screen and seeing what's left.
Read the explanation and choose a branch
Links are not just navigation buttons; they lead to text and options that describe the surroundings. Decide whether to continue the investigation or turn back based on the situation described in the text.
Search that extends beyond the page
The author describes it as an adventure that continues from the website through the public directory to itch.io. It is a story with a beginning, middle, and end, including scenes in which folders and files are examined.

- Adventures on the official website can be played for free on a PC browser. The Fish installation/management screen at the entrance is a presentation that handles fictitious plugins, so there is no need to install actual software for early exploration.
