ABOUT THE GAME
With just one button,
all the way to the end of the city.
*Canabalt* is an action game released by Adam Saltsman in 2009. The character runs automatically toward the right side of the screen, and the player must jump to navigate past obstacles and gaps between buildings. An HTML5 version, ported by Cameron Taylor, is currently available to play in a web browser via the official website.
ONE BUTTON
Running is automatic.
Decisions must be made in an instant.
In the featured screenshot, the character is running to the right along a corridor inside a building. The background shows a landscape of ruined structures, and the distance traveled—8 meters—is displayed in the upper-right corner.

Forward movement is automatic; the only control is jumping.
The character runs to the right without ever stopping. There is no need to change direction or control speed; you can focus entirely on timing your jumps to clear obstacles and gaps in the terrain.
Jump behavior changes based on how long the button is pressed.
Even with a single-button control scheme, the way the character rises varies depending on whether you press the button briefly or hold it for a moment longer. This simple control mechanism allows for nuanced adjustments—deciding whether to land nearby or leap further ahead.
An endless format focused on increasing distance.
The official Finji website categorizes the game as "Endless" and "One Button." The goal is to clear obstacles and gaps between buildings to extend the distance traveled, which is tracked on-screen.
With just one button,
How far can you go?
