HOW TO PLAY
Controls and goals
- How to operate
- Click and drag the resource in the left column to the grid. Move the viewpoint with the arrow keys or WASD and zoom in/out with the mouse wheel
- Goal
- Complete the building by arranging the resources in the form of a recipe, and expand the city with the obtained plots and resources. You can also build freely without chasing points or quests.
ABOUT THE GAME
Arrange the resources,
Grow the city block one move at a time.
"Build a Borough" is a construction strategy created by nhitze. Buildings will be automatically constructed by placing resources on the grid and completing the recipe form. Use the points, plots, and resources you get from buildings to further expand your city.
EXPAND THE BOROUGH
The built block is
Generates the next resource.
On the official publication screen, the central city block expands into houses, roads, farms, markets, etc., and quests to build bridges are lined up on the right side. Completing buildings gives you points, additional plots, and resources to increase your next build location.

Create a recipe using immovable resources
Drag the resources from the left column to the grid and create the same arrangement as the building recipe. Resources cannot be moved once they are placed, so consider their future shape when deciding where to place them.
Buildings generate the next section and resources
Once the pattern is completed, a building will appear and you will earn points as well as additional grids and resources. The completed building opens up more room for further construction.
Aim for quests and adjacent effects
Earn additional points and resources by completing the two assigned quests. Building adjacency also results in bonuses and penalties.

On the author's official itch.io work page and author page, we were unable to confirm general permission regarding live video, live streaming, monetization, and posting screenshots in external articles. The official submission page for GMTK Game Jam 2024 credits Kenney's game materials, OpenGameArt's CC0 music and sound effects, and the Gloria Hallelujah font under SIL Open Font License 1.1, but these material licenses are not Build a Borough's permission to publish the video. Please check with nhitze before distributing and monetizing.
“Unconfirmed” does not mean streaming is prohibited. We have not confirmed an official policy for the general public.
