Little Alchemy 2 is a one-player crafting puzzle developed by Recloak. The official hint explains how to discover new items by combining two items at a time, with four starting points: air, earth, fire, and water. There is no penalty for trying the wrong combination.
FIRST DISCOVERIES

The first combination in the official hint includes examples of creating pressure from air and air, and puddle from water and water. The items you discover will be added to your library and will serve as materials for trying out two more items.

Only combine two at a time
Drag the item from the library to your workspace and stack the two. There are also things that are created by stacking the same items, like pressure between air and puddle between water.
Accumulate your discoveries in libraries and encyclopedias
Newly found items will be added to your library. In the encyclopedia you can see item descriptions, combinations you've found, and related discoveries and progress.
Items with different roles organize progress
The official help explains the four types: Basic, which you get when you start, Unlockable, which opens according to progress conditions, Final, which cannot be combined with anything else, and Depleted, which can be used when all usable combinations are discovered.
