Controls and goals
- How to operate
- Left-click or drag to move the terrain cube, and right-click to remove it. You can move the viewpoint with WASD or drag, and change the display magnification with Q/E.
- Goal
- There are no fixed goals or endings. We change the environment, including abandoned buildings, and develop homes where people and nature can continue to live together.
ABOUT THE GAME
Not a blank piece of land,
Start with the remaining town.
Lichenia is set in a land full of pollution and building debris. Move terrain cubes to interact with the environment and grow habitable places. There is no set goal or ending, and you can continue as you observe how nature and the city react.
GROW & OBSERVE
Move the terrain,
See how it spreads.
When you move the green cube to the map, the surrounding green space will change. The short English sentences that appear at the bottom of the screen are also clues to understanding what is happening in the world. Compare not only the state immediately after placement, but also the state after looking at it for a while.

Operation to replace the environment
Move the cube by left-clicking or dragging, and remove by right-clicking. Rather than arranging buildings in a fixed order, this is a game where you look at their effects on the terrain and their results.
Balance between population and natural resources
The creator explains that when human growth outpaces natural resources, the condition of the land deteriorates. The beige bar displayed is a measure of human growth, and the green bar is a measure of natural resources.
Changes including disasters
Floods, droughts, and wildfires may occur. Rather than creating a fixed city according to one's wishes, it is a structure that allows a home to continue to grow in a changing environment.

Play notes
- How to proceed in the beginning
- Click to Continue means "Click to continue." After proceeding with the explanation, move the terrain cube on the left to the map and watch the changes in your surroundings. Trying one type at a time will make it easier to compare their effects.
- English reading
- You need to read the operating instructions and short English sentences that appear according to changes in the environment. Place means placement, move means moving, and remove means removing. Fragments of the story can also provide hints for understanding the mechanism.
- A game to explore the mechanism
- The creator introduces it as a sandbox where you can discover some mechanisms and small secrets. This is a work that does not have everything explained from the beginning, but involves repeated trials and observations.
